Gandharva Loka at WOMAD New Zealand 2010
March 2010 will see Gandharva Loka heading to WOMAD New Zealand in New Plymouth to set up a stall at the Global Village.
We attended last year for the first time and had such an amazing experience we cannot wait to do it again! WOMAD stands for World of Music, Arts and Dance. The international WOMAD Festivals bring together artists from all over the globe and the central aim of the WOMAD festival is to celebrate the world's many forms of music, art and dance. WOMAD Festivals are family-oriented, diverse and interactive musical events; sometimes offering as many as seven stages within the festival site. This from the WOMAD web site:
WOMAD returns to Taranaki from 12-14 March 2010 for an exhilarating weekend of rhythms, sights and sounds in the lush surroundings of Brooklands Park & TSB Bowl in New Plymouth. Get ready for a whirlwind trip around the world and discover performances from so many artists.
It's not just the music that takes you on a magical journey. Captivating workshops for adults and children allow you to explore WOMAD's diverse mix of artist performances; a stroll through the Global Village offers fantastic fare and great shopping; you can re-energise with tempting tastes from other lands in Taste The World or spend time in the Kidzone with the family. Most of all relax, unwind and soak up the family-friendly, relaxed vibe that is unique to WOMAD in Taranaki.

At last years event, many music lovers from seasoned professionals to enthusiastic beginners showed great interest in the variety and quality of the world instruments that Gandharva Loka had on offer. This made us feel that we were attaining some of our goals as an enterprise. This year Ujjwala, Prasasta's musically talented sister, will be on hand to help out and we are looking forward to what will no doubt be a very dymamic and joyful event.
See you at WOMAD!
