The name Gandharva Loka originates from the Sanskrit language and means The Abode of the Celestial Musicians. Founded in 1989, the simple philosophy behind Gandharva Loka is to inspire people to try new musical instruments, new cultures and to learn a bit more about themselves. Gandharva Loka in Christchurch is the first Gandharva Loka world music store outside Europe. Since our opening day on March 7, 2008, we have provided a huge range of hard to find, top quality musical instruments from around the world – Gandharva Loka Christchurch is a music lovers paradise!

Gandharva Loka Christchurch has re-opened!
We are delighted to announce that Gandharva Loka Christchurch re-opened on Tuesday December the 6th.
We have a lovely space that is accessed through The Lotus-Heart restaurant and tea house – a new location for the popular vegetarian restaurant that is also home to a lovely gift shop. We now have in stock the best range of instruments we have ever had and we are expecting that more instruments will be arriving in the next few days. More »
